In a move to enhance national efforts to treat rare genetic diseases and improve healthcare, Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Health and Population, received the first shipment of the drug "Trikafta," designated for treating cystic fibrosis patients. He handed over the receipt document to Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The shipment will be used at the Cystic Fibrosis Treatment Center at Ain Shams University Hospitals as part of the collaboration between the Ministries of Health and Higher Education and the Presidential Initiative for the Early Detection of Genetic Diseases. Dr. Ayman Ashour emphasized the importance of developing university hospitals and medical infrastructure, focusing on the treatment of rare diseases and the role of universities in community development. He noted that this collaboration reflects the state's commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Vision 2030. Meanwhile, Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, spokesperson for the Ministry of Health, stated that the shipment of "Trikafta," which includes 2,800 packages, represents a significant milestone in treating cystic fibrosis, a genetic disease that damages the lungs and digestive system.
