As part of efforts to improve healthcare in Africa, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), in collaboration with the Egyptian Reference Laboratory, organized a workshop titled "Basics of Hospital Infection Surveillance and Antibiotic Stewardship Programs." The workshop was held under the patronage of Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and supported by Dr. Ghada Ismail, Director of the Reference Laboratory. The workshop aimed to enhance the competencies of public health professionals in Africa, with the Reference Laboratory playing a pivotal role in providing technical training, reflecting Egypt's leadership in this field. This workshop marks a significant step toward improving healthcare across the African continent and underscores the importance of international partnerships in addressing health challenges.
